Things are not always what they seem. Two angels stopped for the night at the house of a wealthy family. The family was mean and refused to let the angels stay in the guest room. Instead, they had the angels sleep in a small room in the basement where it was very cold. While they were making their beds on the hard floor, the older one noticed a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why he had plugged the hole when the people were not very nice, the older one replied: Things are not always what they seem.
The night after, the two angels arrived to rest in a house where the people were truly poor, but where the farmer and his wife were very hospitable. After sharing the little food they had, the couple let the angels sleep in their bed so that they would have a good night's sleep. When the sun rose the next morning, the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk was a blessing, lay dead on the ground. The younger of the angels asked the older one why he had allowed this to happen: the first family had everything, and you helped them by repairing a hole in their basement wall, the angel accused. The second family had little, but was willing to share everything, and you let their cow die.
Things are not always as they seem, repeated the oldest of the angels. When we stayed in the basement of the first family's house, I noticed that there was gold stored in a hole in the basement wall. Since the owner was so filled with hatred and did not want to share his fortune, I blocked the hole so that he would not find his gold. And last night, when we were asleep in the farmer's room, the angel of death came to take the farmer's wife. I negotiated with him and gave him the farmer's only cow in exchange.
Conclusion
Things do not always go as we would wish. If you have faith, you must be convinced that every trial in life should be considered a blessing, and that sooner or later you will realize that the so-called trial was truly to your advantage.
