DOES EVIL EXIST?

DOES EVIL EXIST?

Does evil exist? A university professor challenged his students with this question. Did God create everything that exists?

A student bravely replied: "Yes, He did!" The professor said, "Did God create everything?" "Yes, sir," the student replied. The professor responded, "If God created everything, then He also created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle of our work that defines who we are, God is therefore evil." The student was silent in the face of such a response.

The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had once again proven that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "May I ask you a question, Professor?" "Of course," the professor replied.

The student retorted: “Professor, does cold exist?” “What kind of question is that? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold?” the professor retorted.

The young man replied: "In fact, sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider to be cold is actually the absence of heat. Every individual or object possesses or transmits energy. Heat is produced by a body or matter that transmits energy. Absolute Zero (-460°F) is the complete absence of heat; at this temperature, all matter becomes inert and unable to react. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe what we feel when we have no heat."

The student continued: "Professor, does darkness exist?" The professor replied, "Of course it does!"

The student replied: “You are still wrong, sir. Darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in fact the absence of light. We can study light, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton’s prism to break white light into its various colors and study the different wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A single ray of light can burst into a world of darkness and illuminate it.”

How can you measure the space that darkness occupies? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't that true? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light.

In the end, the young man asked the professor: “Sir, does evil exist?” Now uncertain, the professor replied, “Of course, as I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the everyday examples of man’s inhumanity toward man. It is in the multitude of crimes and violence all over the world. These manifestations are nothing but evil!”

The student replied: “Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist in itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love, which exist just as light and heat do. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have the love of God in his heart. It is like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light.” The professor sat down.

The young man's name was: Albert Einstein

Hello Lolly pop!

Evil exists, for without evil there would be no good; good and evil are shaped by our attitudes and are complementary through our ability to learn to distinguish good from evil.

Best regards
The magician.

Thank you, dear Lolly, for this reminder, which made me think of this:

An old Hindu legend tells of a time when all men were gods. But they abused their divinity so much that Brahma, the master of the gods, decided to strip them of their divine power and hide it in a place where they would be unable to find it. The great problem, therefore, was to find a hiding place for it.

When the minor gods were summoned to a council to resolve this problem, they proposed: “Let us place the divinity of man in the earth.” But Brahma replied: “No, that is not enough, for man will dig and find it.”

So the gods replied: “In that case, let us cast divinity into the deepest of the oceans.”

But Brahma replied again: “No, for sooner or later, man will explore the depths of all the oceans, and it is certain that one day, he will find it and bring it to the surface.”

So the minor gods concluded, “We do not know where to hide it, for it does not seem that there is a place on earth or in the seas that man cannot reach one day.”

So Brahma said: "This is what we shall do with the divinity of man: we shall hide it in the deepest part of himself, for that is the only place where he will never think to look."

Ever since then, the legend concludes, man has circumnavigated the earth, explored, climbed, dived, and dug, in search of something that lies within him.

I hope you will enjoy this lovely legend as much as I did.
Best regards

Hello!

Who has no light creates darkness
Whoever lacks the warmth of love creates coldness.
Whoever lacks the faith of love within themselves creates evil.

But where on earth can one find the light?
Where to find the warmth of love?
So where are faith and the love of God?

We could go around the world, explore the moon and the universe, we would not find them.
We may well turn to all religions, but none of them will bring them to us.

The light that illuminates us, the warmth of love, and God Himself are nowhere else; they are within us, deep in the core of our hearts.
All it takes is to have faith in ourselves to find them.

Best regards

I am allowing myself to contribute to this discussion thread

I think evil exists in each of us; some develop it as a form of pleasure, while others suffer from it.
Like all human beings, I was surprised to discover that there are people on this earth who cause harm. I cannot say whether they realize the harm they may cause to others.

There is physical pain; I get slapped, I hurt for a moment, I also hurt, but a few days later the pain goes away and we forget about it.

But the worst is moral violence; that one can kill you; words can kill a person, for me that is the greatest evil

I invite you to read a book that I have read myself: Moral Harassment
