Hello,

I work in a senior living facility. I have grown attached to an elderly woman whom I consider a friend and a grandmother. Unfortunately, she doesn’t express herself much, and I don’t know how she sees me. Sometimes I wonder if I should keep reaching out to her. How will things develop between us? Her name is Francine, born September 15, 1938.

Elderly people are no longer necessarily inclined to express themselves with the same vivacity as the young; they tend to express themselves through gestures and looks of gratitude, seeking more of an emotional connection in terms of the presence of the other.
Keep moving toward her, for know that she appreciates your presence and your help; the bond between you will continue to evolve favorably, but at times, try to put yourself in her shoes or project yourself into a distant future at Francine’s age.
