Foods that heal

Machine translation.

Hello everyone,
We discussed in a post the effects that food can have on our health. I think more or less everyone knows that chocolate has antidepressant properties.

  • Olive oil, for example, is a prime remedy for: bronchitis, wound healing, …
  • Onions and garlic are excellent antibacterials. In case of a sore throat, for example… place them at the location of the tonsils and cover with a scarf. Or better, put them in a scarf and wrap it around the throat.
  • Mixing lemon juice and ginger with hot or warm water has a strengthening effect.
  • For migraines, rub a potato on your temples? I’m writing all of this from memory… without a book…
  • Ah, yes, again to bring down the fever: soak washcloths in vinegar water and place them around the patient's calves.
  • Put a clove of garlic in your ear for earaches.
  • Make cornmeal poultices for sinusitis

Here it is...

I will review my book, and if I find it good, I will list it in the site's bookstore.

See you soon, ClaudiaC

P.S. Please let me know if you were already familiar with some of these “tricks” involving food and grandma’s remedies

Oh, thank you, dear Claudiac

I didn't know that all these foods could have such effects; I know a few of them, such as:

  • Olive oil to lower bad cholesterol, to soften hands when mixed with sugar, and to strengthen nails.

  • Garlic expels pinworms, reduces high blood pressure, and treats circulatory disorders.

I remember when I was little, a bee stung me (the nasty one), and of course I screamed. My grandmother came over and rubbed the sting with three different herbs, and just like that, no more burning, no swelling. I always thought she was a witch.
She used to make me take a tablespoon of cod liver oil every day during the winter (how awful) to keep me healthy. I used it for my three children (assuming it doesn't taste like anything!!!) it's really effective, but the whole house smelled like fish.

For the finishing touch, eat fish for memory

Good night, filled with big kisses

Véronique

Hello Claudiac,

Thank you for responding favorably to my request regarding the benefits of diet on our health.

A remedy that is quite effective for everyone from the very young to the elderly is to reduce fever by making a decoction of orange peel, making sure not to include the white pith, which gives a bitter taste. The patient regularly drinks this beverage, which, in addition to rehydrating them, helps lower their temperature.

Honey also has great benefits; it is a natural antibiotic for flu or ENT problems. Not only does it soothe the entire rhinopharyngeal system, but its substance also helps fight and destroy microbes and viruses. A simple recipe on this topic: warm up a lemon juice generously mixed with honey, to be taken at least 4 or 5 times a day. For those who tolerate alcohol, you can add a few teaspoons of a dry alcohol. It is advisable to wrap up and stay warm, as the patient may sweat. It should be known that viruses cannot withstand heat and die, so this method can prove effective before your doctor arrives.

Here are some benefits of diet. I will get back to you as soon as I remember any others.

See you soon

Hello Sebsylam and Josy,
I'll try to remember a few things too…
I remembered this:

  • Drinking strong coffee (like espresso) with lemon juice (mixed together) for a migraine. I’ve never tried it because it probably doesn’t taste good, but I’ll give it a try at my next migraine.
  • And salt…: you can gargle with warm salt water for sore throats.

See you soon, ClaudiaC

Good evening Claudiac,
I just wanted to ask if you knew about the lemon and mustard mixture for gargling in case of a sore throat.
Best regards
Ladysally

Hello Ladysally,
No, not at all. Have you tried it yet?
Best regards, ClaudiaC
