Divinatory arts

The divinatory arts are the full range of techniques through which people seek to shed light on a question, a hidden past or a possible future. Some rely on a medium that is handled or observed (cards, runes, coins, coffee grounds, the lines of the hand), others on a direct perception claimed by the practitioner. Found in almost every culture, they belong to tradition and interpretation, not to scientific demonstration. A healthy approach treats them as a way of shedding light on a situation, never as a verdict.
