Fa

Fa is the divination system practiced mainly by the Fon and neighboring peoples of Benin and Togo, a close relative of Yoruba Ifá. The diviner, called a bokonon, consults Fa using a divining chain or palm nuts to obtain one of the signs, each of which carries stories, taboos and advice. Fa is a full-fledged religious and social institution, consulted for births, life choices or difficulties. It deserves to be presented with the respect owed to a living tradition.
