Medium

A medium is a person who presents themselves as an intermediary able to perceive information from beyond the ordinary senses and, in particular, according to the spiritualist tradition, to communicate with the dead. In everyday consultation usage, the word is often used as a synonym for psychic. Claimed contact with a deceased loved one reaches people who are grieving, and therefore fragile: a respectful practice does not foster dependence, does not charge for repeated sessions and does not take the place of grief support.
