Oswald Wirth
Also Oswald Wirth Tarot · The Tarot of the Magicians
Oswald Wirth (1860-1943) was a Swiss occultist and Freemason based in France who in 1889, under the patronage of Stanislas de Guaita, drew the twenty-two so-called kabbalistic Major Arcana, redrawn from the Marseille model and enriched with symbols. His book Le Tarot des imagiers du Moyen Âge, published in 1927 and known in English as The Tarot of the Magicians, remains a classic of the symbolic reading of the Major Arcana. His tarot inspired many esoteric decks of the twentieth century.
