Tool-based clairvoyance
Also tool-assisted clairvoyance
Tool-based clairvoyance is clairvoyance that relies on a tool serving as a starting point or channel for perception: a tarot or oracle deck, a pendulum, runes, a crystal ball, coffee grounds, a photograph. For some practitioners, the tool structures the reading through an established symbolic code; for others, it mainly serves to trigger intuition. It is contrasted with pure clairvoyance. The tool also gives the client something visible that can be discussed, which makes the reading more transparent.
