Incense

Also incense stick · frankincense · resin

Incense originally refers to an aromatic resin, frankincense, obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia, and by extension to any substance burned for its fragrance. Used since antiquity in temples, churches and rituals, it symbolizes prayer rising toward the divine. In spiritual practice, it accompanies meditation, the cleansing of a space or the setting of an intention. A well-ventilated room is still recommended.
