Palo santo
Also holy wood · Bursera graveolens
Palo santo, Spanish for “holy wood,” is the fragrant wood of Bursera graveolens, a tree native to South and Central America. Burned as sticks, it gives off a soft smoke with woody, lemony notes, traditionally used to purify and soothe. Growing demand has raised sustainability concerns: responsible suppliers harvest only wood from trees that have died naturally.
