Pamela Colman Smith

Also Pixie · Pamela Smith

Pamela Colman Smith (1878-1951) was a British-American illustrator and storyteller, a member of the Golden Dawn, who in 1909 drew the seventy-eight cards of the tarot she designed with Arthur Edward Waite. Long overlooked and paid only modestly for the work, she died in poverty. Since the late twentieth century, her name has increasingly been added to the deck, now known as the Rider-Waite-Smith, in recognition of the decisive contribution her scenes made to the Minor Arcana.
