Geomantic figure

A geomantic figure is one of the sixteen combinations of four rows, each marked with either one dot (odd) or two dots (even). In the European tradition, each figure bears a Latin name, such as Via, Populus, Fortuna Major, Acquisitio, Carcer or Puella, along with planetary, zodiacal and elemental correspondences. According to geomancers, each expresses a quality, favorable or unfavorable depending on the question. The sixteen figures of geomancy are structurally close to the basic signs of Fa and Ifá.
