The Lovers
Also The Lover · L'Amoureux · Arcanum VI
The Lovers is Major Arcanum VI of the tarot, called L'Amoureux (The Lover) in the Tarot de Marseille. In the Marseille deck, a young man stands between two women beneath a Cupid about to loose his arrow. Upright, it evokes choice, union, emotional bonds, harmony and the impulse of the heart. Reversed, it is read as hesitation, indecision, a forced choice or an unbalanced relationship. Its meaning goes beyond love: it speaks of any decision that commits.
