The Chariot

The Chariot is Major Arcanum VII of the tarot. It shows a young crowned ruler standing in a chariot drawn by two horses that seem to pull in different directions. Upright, it symbolizes victory, progress, willpower, mastery of opposing forces and taking action in the world. Reversed, the tradition sees in it loss of control, scattered effort, impatience or success that is slow to come. It is often associated with travel.
