The Star

The Star is Major Arcanum XVII of the tarot. A naked woman, one knee on the ground, pours the contents of two jugs into a stream and onto the earth beneath a sky of eight stars. Upright, it symbolizes hope, trust, inspiration, generosity and sincerity. Reversed, the tradition reads in it disillusionment, doubt, waning energy or disappointed idealism. Coming after The Tower, it is often read as a return to calm and clarity.
