Mercury (astrology)

In astrology, Mercury symbolizes practical intelligence, thought, speech, writing, exchange, trade and travel. It rules Gemini and Virgo, where it is also exalted, and is in detriment in Sagittarius and Pisces, and in fall in Pisces. Close to the Sun, it never strays more than 28 degrees from it. Its retrograde periods, three or four times a year, draw a great deal of commentary.
