Pendulum chart
Also dowsing chart · pendulum board
A pendulum chart is a printed diagram placed beneath the pendulum to guide the reading: a graduated semicircle, a dial divided into sectors, an alphabet, numbers, a list of answers or topics. As it swings toward a sector, the pendulum is supposed to indicate the answer. Dowsers use many different models, some highly specialized. According to practitioners themselves, the chart has no power of its own: it simply gives structure to the question. It is not to be confused with a spirit board such as the Ouija, which serves a different purpose.
