King

The King is the highest court card of each suit in the Minor Arcana, shown crowned, seated or in majesty. In tarot reading, he symbolizes the full, outwardly expressed mastery of his suit: authority, responsibility, experience, the ability to decide and to protect. He may stand for an influential person in the querent’s life or a stance to take on. In Crowley’s Thoth deck, the top rank is held by a Knight, which shifts the hierarchy.
