Tarology

Tarology is the study and practice of tarot reading, approached as a symbolic language rather than a mere predictive technique. The term, of fairly recent coinage, is often contrasted with traditional cartomancy: where the latter seeks to foretell events, tarology readily claims an approach based on interpretation, dialogue and reflection on a question. Its practitioners rely on iconography, the numerology of the cards and the relationships between them in a reading.
