Line spread
Also row spread · linear spread
A line spread consists of laying several cards side by side, in one or more rows, and reading them like a sentence, from left to right. Widely used with the Tarot de Marseille, it lends itself to a narrative reading in which each card qualifies the one before it and the gaze of the figures steers the story. In French, the same expression, “tirage en ligne,” also means a reading done on the internet; that sense is covered here under automated online reading.
