Ace of Spades

The ace of spades is the most dreaded card in cartomancy with ordinary playing cards, associated by tradition with ordeals, breakups, painful decisions and, in older readings, bereavement. Serious card readers point out that it most often signals the end of a cycle or an abrupt change to be weathered, not an inevitable fate, and that no card predicts a death. Its meaning shifts considerably with the surrounding cards: next to favorable ones, it can stand for a necessary and liberating break.
