Spades (cartomancy)

In cartomancy with an ordinary deck, spades are the suit of difficulties: obstacles, delays, conflicts, worries, separations or fatigue. Tradition made spades the most dreaded suit in the deck, but serious practitioners point out that it signals a tension to be understood rather than an inevitable misfortune, and that its meaning always depends on the surrounding cards. The ace of spades and the queen of spades are its best-known cards. The suit is often likened to the tarot suit of Swords.
