Swords

Swords are one of the four suits of the Minor Arcana, depicted as swords. In the Tarot de Marseille, the pip cards of this suit show interlaced arcs around one or two swords. The tradition generally associates the suit with the element of Air, the intellect, speech, decision and conflict. It corresponds to spades in ordinary playing cards. Its cards have a reputation for being demanding, since they cut as much as they clarify.
