Astragalomancy

Astragalomancy is divination by casting knucklebones, known as astragali, or by extension marked dice. In the Greco-Roman world, inscriptions found in Asia Minor matched each combination of five astragali with a verse answer attributed to a deity. The practice rests on the idea that apparent chance expresses a higher will. Astragalomancy is classed under cleromancy, the broad family of divination by lot.
