Self-reading
Also reading for yourself · reading for oneself
A self-reading means laying out the cards for oneself, acting as both reader and querent. It is a classic exercise for learning and personal reflection. Its main limitation is well known to every tarot reader: it is hard to interpret a question of personal concern with any detachment, and one tends to read what one hopes for or fears. Many recommend writing down such readings so they can be reviewed later with some distance.
