Pip cards

Also number cards · spot cards

In cartomancy with ordinary playing cards, pip cards are the numbered cards that come after the court cards: from ten down to seven in the 32-card piquet deck, from ten down to two in the 52-card deck. They describe events, circumstances and emotions, while the court cards represent people. Their meaning depends on their suit and value: the ten often suggests a culmination or a place, the seven a minor event, a thought or a wait. Read in groups, they form the backbone of the reading.
