Pip cards

Pip cards are the forty Minor Arcana cards numbered from Ace to Ten, ten per suit. In the Tarot de Marseille, they show only ornamental patterns and the number of suit symbols, so they must be read through numerology and suit. The Rider-Waite-Smith illustrated every one of them with a scene, following only the Sola Busca tarot (late fifteenth century), which made them much easier to interpret and partly explains its success.
