Root chakra

The root chakra, Muladhara in Sanskrit, is the first of the seven main chakras, located at the base of the spine. Tradition associates it with material security, the survival instinct, the body and a sense of belonging. In the West it is assigned the color red and the element of earth. Practitioners link it to grounding: a “balanced” root chakra is said to bring stability and confidence. These correspondences are symbolic and are no substitute for medical advice.
