Queen (cartomancy)

The queen is, in cartomancy with a standard deck, the court card that traditionally represents a woman in the querent’s circle: mother, partner, friend, colleague or rival. Her suit shows her place: the queen of hearts is a loving woman, often the querent herself, the queen of diamonds a more distant or talkative acquaintance, the queen of clubs a reliable ally, the queen of spades a hostile or sorely tried woman. Contemporary readings also see her as a so-called feminine quality rather than a specific person.
