Spiritual awakening

Spiritual awakening refers to an inner transformation through which a person becomes aware of a broader dimension of existence and comes to see themselves and the world differently. In Buddhism, awakening, bodhi, is the goal of the path. The New Age uses the term more loosely, for any profound shift in awareness. Intense distress presented as a “symptom of awakening” deserves to be heard by a health professional.
