Hexagram
Also gua · kua
In the I Ching, a hexagram is a figure of six stacked lines, each either solid (yang) or broken (yin). There are sixty-four of them, covering every possible combination, each with a name, a number and a text. A hexagram is built from the bottom up, line by line, and can also be read as two trigrams stacked one on top of the other. When some lines are changing, the resulting figure transforms into a second hexagram, which shows how the situation is evolving.
