I Ching

Also Yi Jing · Yi King · Book of Changes · Classic of Changes

The I Ching, or Book of Changes, is a Chinese classic of divination and wisdom whose core dates back to the Western Zhou dynasty, at the beginning of the first millennium BCE. It is built on sixty-four hexagrams, figures of six solid or broken lines, accompanied by texts and commentaries. Tradition attributes the trigrams to Fuxi, the hexagrams to King Wen and the commentaries to Confucius, attributions that historians regard as legendary. It is consulted by tossing coins or dividing yarrow stalks.
