Lecanomancy
Also basin divination
Lecanomancy is divination by observing a basin filled with water into which oil, flour or other substances are poured, their shapes and movements then being read. The word comes from the Greek lekanē, “basin.” It is one of the oldest known techniques: Mesopotamian texts from the second millennium BCE describe in precise detail the omens drawn from drops of oil on water. It is a branch of hydromancy.
