Law of attraction
Also positive thinking · manifestation · manifesting
The law of attraction is the idea that a person’s thoughts and emotions would draw to them events of the same nature: positive thinking would attract positive outcomes. Originating in the New Thought movement in the United States in the nineteenth century, it was popularized in 2006 by the book and film The Secret. It can encourage motivation, but it has no scientific basis and can wrongly make people who are ill or struggling feel to blame.
