Paul Marteau
Also Grimaud Tarot · Ancien Tarot de Marseille
Paul Marteau was a twentieth-century card manufacturer and head of the Grimaud company, which in 1930 published the Ancien Tarot de Marseille, adapted from Nicolas Conver’s model with a simplified palette. Sold for decades, this edition did much to establish the name and image of the Tarot de Marseille in France. His book Le Tarot de Marseille, published in 1949, also shaped the symbolic reading of colors and details.
