Premonition

Also forewarning

A premonition is an advance perception of an event, often felt as a warning before it happens. It can take the form of an image, a dream, a vague unease or a sudden certainty. The word comes from the Latin praemonere, “to warn in advance”. Accounts of premonitions abound, especially around disasters; psychologists point out that people mostly remember the ones that came true. A premonition is best taken as a signal to pay attention, not as a verdict.
