Sibylle des Salons

Also Sibyl of the Salons

The Sibylle des Salons is a French oracle of 52 cards that appeared in the nineteenth century and was long published by Grimaud, in which each card shows a titled scene from social or romantic life, along with a small playing-card inset. It features characters, feelings and events, such as the widow, jealousy, the letter or the gift. Heir to the parlor games in which people amused themselves by reading each other's cards, it is read card by card and through combinations, much like the Italian Sibilla.
