The year-ahead spread assigns one card to each of the twelve coming months, often with an added synthesis card that sets the overall tone of the period. It is a popular choice at New Year or on a birthday. Each card points to a mood, a theme or something to watch for in the month concerned. It is read as a set of avenues for reflection over the year, not as a calendar of foretold events.
