Synthesis card

The synthesis card is a card that sums up the overall spirit of a reading, placed last and often in the center. In the French cross spread method, it is found by adding up the numbers of the Major Arcana that came up; if the total exceeds 22, the digits are added together or, depending on the school, 22 is subtracted. The Fool, which bears no number, counts as 0 or as 22 depending on the reader. Others simply prefer to draw one extra card. Its role is to tie the cards together.
