Jack (cartomancy)

Also jacks · knave

In cartomancy with an ordinary deck, the jack is the court card that traditionally represents a young man, someone close, an intermediary or a messenger, and sometimes a thought that occupies the mind. The jack of hearts often stands for a sweetheart or a sincere friend, the jack of diamonds for a bearer of news, sometimes unreliable, the jack of clubs for active support, and the jack of spades for a tactless young man or a thwarted undertaking. Placed next to another court card, it often reveals that figure's intentions.
