Zodiac
Also zodiac wheel · zodiacal circle
The zodiac is the band of sky, centered on the ecliptic, through which the Sun, Moon and planets appear to travel, divided into twelve signs of 30 degrees each. Its name comes from Greek and evokes a “circle of animals.” In Western astrology, the signs are sectors measured from the spring equinox and no longer coincide with the constellations of the same name. Chinese astrology uses a different cycle, based on years and twelve animals.
