Amulet
Also good-luck charm · lucky charm · gris-gris
An amulet is an object worn or kept on one's person for protection against misfortune, the evil eye or harmful influences. A stone, a medal, a knot, a hamsa hand, a blue eye or a four-leaf clover: every culture has its own. An amulet protects, whereas a talisman is rather meant to attract a benefit. Its value is symbolic; an amulet sold at a high price with a guaranteed effect is an abuse.
