Jumping card

Also jumper · jumping cards

A jumping card is a card that slips out of the deck during shuffling and lands on the table or the floor. Many readers pay it special attention, as if it were insisting on being seen, and read it as a complement to the spread or as an underlying message. Others simply put it back in the deck, regarding it as a handling accident. Both attitudes coexist; neither is the norm.
