Position

A position is the place a card occupies in a spread, along with the meaning assigned to it in advance by the chosen method. The same card is not read the same way depending on whether it falls in the advice, obstacle or outcome position. Defining the positions before drawing is part of a rigorous reading: it avoids adjusting the meaning of the places after the fact to fit the cards that came up.
