Dharma

Dharma is a central notion of the religions born in India, with many meanings: cosmic order, moral law, the duty proper to each person and, in Buddhism, the Buddha’s teaching. In Western spiritual circles, the word is often used to mean a person’s life mission or rightful path. It is frequently paired with karma: one says what ought to be done, the other what actions bring about.
