Numerology

Numerology is a divinatory art that gives numbers a symbolic value and draws from them insight into character, aptitudes and the major periods of a life. It works from two sources: the date of birth and the letters of the name, converted into digits and then reduced. Its practitioners readily claim Pythagoras as their forebear, but the modern method took shape mainly in the early 20th century. It has no scientific validation; it is consulted as a framework for interpretation and reflection, not as a certain prediction.
